Photoshop Experiments

I wanted to look at Charlotte Caron's style but I wanted to do it in my own way so I chose to experiment in Photoshop, It was my first time using Photoshop so I hope to improve in the future. These are my favourite two experiments from what i did.

I think having the dog cut off by the
hair adds interest, next time I would
decrease the opacity of the dog and
leave in some more of the dog where
there is skin showing.
I like the angle of both of these
photos. next time I would again
decrease the opacity of the dog
and also blend the dog into the
other photo more.

This is the photo that I think has worked best
so far. I put the photos together because they
both have similar colours. I just need to work
on editing the photos to have the same sort of
lighting effect.

PhotoShoots

These two photos will work well when I Photoshop them
together. The lighting didn't turn out too well in either of these photos.

I like the lighting in this photo.
The position the dog's head is
in is also interesting.
This is a very simple photo, however,
I like how the dog has tilted his head
slightly. I have chosen this as one of
my best photos from this shoot because
it will work well in the style in which
I want to use it.

I chose this photo because I like how the position of the dog
has turned out. The lighting didn't quite work in the way I
wanted it to however i still like the photo.

I love how the lighting turned out in both of these photos.
to improve them I could take the photos when it is darker
so there is more contrast between the light and dark.

Week 7 Photos

I've chosen this photo because i like how the light is hitting her
face and also that she is wearing a hat, the hat may make
painting over her face look more interesting.

I like the angle of this photo and I think the way her hair sits will
work well when i come to paint over the photo as it is our of her
face.

I think this was the most interesting
angle I took. The lighting didn't turn
out well but it doesn't matter as I
will be painting over her face anyway.

I picked this photo as I think it will
work out the best when being painted over.
The light hits in a nice way and her
hair is out of her face so the photo
will be easy to paint over.

Birmingham Trip

Because Monday was a bank holiday I went to Birmingham. I visited White-Wall Gallery which I found to be the most interesting (although I got told off after a while for taking photos) and then I went to Birmingham Museum and Gallery which I had planned to sketch in but didn't have time however, I did find some Buddhist sculptures which could eventually link to my theme of spirit animals as i may expand into reincarnation. I then visited Water-Hall gallery which is a new modern and contemporary gallery. It was an interesting experience for me and although most of the art wasn't my sort of thing I did find some art that interested me. Finally I went to castle fine art gallery in which I wasn't allowed to take photos ( although I did take a sneaky one) which ended up not being very useful to me artist wise but it did inspire me.
This photo didn't turn out well because of the
glass but I like the way this artist has used thread.
I love the texture in this painting.

I completely fell in love with this artist (Christian Hook)
I love the way he makes abstract marks to make his
work more surreal. He may take the place of
my third artist Valerie Davide.

Although its not something I'm interested
in creating myself I was drawn to these
sculptures.
One of the many Buddhist sculptures
I saw.

Eater Holiday Research

Week 1-
On Monday we did a task where we had to describe our artist's work as if to somebody who couldn't see the work. We had to describe things like form, lines, composition and colour. This was a useful task as it has made me understand the level of detail that needs to go into my artist analyses.
Because I had mock exams I focused on revising for those over the rest of the week, so art-wise i was quite unproductive. This means i'll have to put in more effort next week.

Week 2-
This week I gathered information on my artists and began writing analyses for each one. I also went to Hartshill Hayes and took photos, the bluebells were in bloom so I got some great photos. I had planned to go to White wall gallery in Birmingham but didn't have time so I will have to find time to go in the future.

Week 3-
This week I went on holiday to Great Yarmouth and so got some pictures that I could use. I also continued writing my analyses and decided that I don't want to look at Mark Powell and so started looking for new artists that I like. While in Great Yarmouth I found a gallery that i planned to go to but it ended up being closed until the summer so I was unable to go an look.

Week 4-
This week I gathered materials. I got charcoal, photo paper and acrylic paint. I also finally chose the third artist I wanted to look at which i was struggling with choosing and I finished all of my artist analyses. I still may change my last artist as I'm not sure if her work really fits in with the rest of what I'm doing.
